There are different types of Cottages available here, to make your stay happy.
Mango tree Bungalow, Sultana and Pallaniappa bungalow,which are double bedroom cottages and also Bison valley row rooms of Double bed rooms are available at the Devashola Homestay. Bungalows can also be taken and it can accommodate 10-12 people royally.

The uniqueness of the Mango Tree cottage at the Devashola Homestay is that it is a a planter's bungalow, which welcomes quality visitors who attach a great value for nature, aesthetic furniture and a peaceful mountainous atmosphere. one could see Hamilton Peak, Pilloor dam, Bhavani river, Mulli hills of Kerala, the dead end of Silent Valley, etc from the sprawling lawns of the Mango Cottage.
Sultana cottage, sits pretty on a rock overlooking the valley of a mountainous range. In the estate of 650 acres you can have a look at the tea plantation, nursery, floriculture unit, meteorological unit, vanilla, cardamom, pepper, medicinal herbs, silk, cotton, rosewood, jackfruit, mango, orange, teak trees and the like.


Eco trails or eco-tours are the best in these parts and whenever you go for a trek in the paths around the Homestay you will literally see yourself floating in the clouds.
Mango Tree cottage has two spacious well appointed bedrooms, kitchen, store rooms and a pretty sitting room and the sulatana cottage has larger space with three bedrooms, a huge drawing room, kitchen and stores, besides a wooden balcony. Cooks, vessels, geysers etc are provided for the visitors. An ayurvedic rejuvenation facility is also available at Mango Tree cottage.

Morning Tea / Coffee, breakfast, lunch , evening tea / coffee and the night dinner are complimentary. South Vegetarian food will be served at all times.

Courtallam / Kutraalam Waterfalls

Kutraalam water falls is in the Thirunelveli district of the state of Tamil nadu. The waterfalls formed in the Western ghats at a height of 550 feet attracts tourist from all over the world and is known as the Spa of the South. It has been found by the researchers that the water of the falls possessed rare rejuvenating and reinvigorating qualities, which has surprised many.

It is said that the water has the property of curing almost all ailments, since the water flows along lots of medicinal plants and herbs before falling down at Kutraalam. The water falling on you from that height relaxes you from all the tensions and relaxes you completely. The sound of the bubbling water itself is relaxing and is music to the ears.

How to Reach Kutraalam

Closest Railway stations are Tenkasi and Shenkottai , and are placed somewhat equidistant from the water falls.
Closest Airport will be Tutucorin in Tamil nadu, about 86 kilometers away and about 112 kilometers from Thiruvananthapuram of Kerala.
By Road, transport buses are available from each and every major town of that area including Chennai. Long distance deluxe buses run from all the cities in Tamil nadu and Keral since it is close to the Keral Tamil nadu border.
Season
The season starts from June to September when the south west monsoon comes to India. There is an ancient Siva Temple known as Tirukkutralanathar Temple at the main waterfalls which has inscriptions of Chola and Pandyan kings.

Nandhan Farms - a farm resort

Sindhudurg is located in the Konkan belt which stretches for about 128 km of the total 720km along the western coastline of India.
The borders of the region lies with Sahayadri Mountains in the east, the Arabian Sea in the west, Ratnagiri district in the North and the state of Goa in the south.

The location of this Nandhan farms is at Post Charate, near Chiwar Tekdi, Sawantwadi, southern region bordering Goa and the closest railway station will be Sawantwadi.
A silent retreat and a perfect place to unwind oneself. This farm house is set amidst an agricultural farm, situated very much away from the hustle bustle of the city life. Yes, this is a paradise in this area. Farm House, complete with mud walls, and terracotta tiled roof, has been renovated slightly, without removing the rustic looks a farm should have, with the modern amenities of a toilet and bathroom with hot and cold water.

When you enter the farm house you will start finding out how a typical Indian housewife rules over and is the pivot of the household. The daily rituals of morning pooja and the lighting of the lamp, followed by the fragrance sticks, offering of the flowers and how the Pooja room is sanctum sanctorum of an Indian household. You will also find out other small small habits which make an Indian house different like not wearing slippers at home.

The kitchen is kept separate and set aside just like the houses in the olden days. Food is served in the typical Indian style either seated on the mat spread on the floor or in the lawns in a table and chair.
Fruits and vegetables used for serving is grown in the farms itself. If you have any special requests or allergies you can mention it to the hosts who will plan the menu accordingly.

'Sol kaddi' is a coconut cream based digestive made with 'kokum' a locally grown tangy berry and is an essential accompaniment.
This neutralizes all the spices and the heaviness of the hearty meal. There is another drink available with Kokum, Kokum fruit extract, combined with sugar and then diluted in water or soda.
This extract is used as a thirst quencher in the hot summers.

Most homes offer only vegetarian foods on Mondays and Thursdays. Vegetarian fare will be the best since all the vegetables used are grown in the farms and delicately spiced.

Seafood is always available here very fresh, be it crabs, prawns, or the local bangda (Kingfish. Chicken vade saguti is also a local favorite, which is made of the succulent pieces of chicken marinated in freshly ground masalas and cooked till tender. This gravy is served with Vade which is similar to a thick puri or Indian bread.

The room tariff will differ from place to place in the Cultural Angan homes. It ranges from Rs.1800 - 5000. Tariffs include room rent on a twin sharing basis and all meals for the day unless specified otherwise.

How to reach Sindhudurg

By air: Dabholim is the nearest airport in the state of Goa about 150 kms.

By rail: Konkan railway from Mumbai in the direction of Goa.Vaibhavwadi, Kankavli, Sindhudurg or Oras, Kudal and Sawantwadi are the major railway stations in Sindhudurg district.

By road: You can also reach Sindhudurg from most of the major cities, 500km from Mumbai, on NH -17 via Mahad and Chiplun, 150km from Ratnagiri, on NH-17 on Mumbai- Goa highway, 120 km from Kolhapur, on SH-116 via Phonda,
140km from Belgaum on SH-121 via Amboli and 150 km from Goa on NH-17 via Sawantwadi.

Wayanad- an Everlasting Dream

I can tell you only that much, it is an everlasting experience and that too like a dream at that.
Wayanad, the name by itself, conjures up a magical, tintilating experience one will go while trekking in the green wild forests and the hill ranges. The altitude of the region is between 700-2100 meters above the sea level and the highest peak in the Chembra is 2100 m.

This Chembra Peak is the highest peak int he Wayanad region and it is about 14 kms from Kalpetta one of the towns of the region. It is a risky endeavor and takes almost a day to reach the top itself. If you like, you can stay the night or more in the temporary tented camps, sleeping bags, trekking implements are provided for a small charge by the Tourism Promotion Council.
As you climb the hill you can hear the water rippling and the sound of water accompanies you to the top of the hill. There is a lake at the top of the hill which never dries up even in the midst of summer. If you ever go for this trip and stay there for the night you will forever be in Nostalgia.

Pakshipathalam is another challenging trip for the interesting tourist but permission has to be sought to go trekking there. District Tourism Promotion Council will arrange for vehicles, guides, camping apparatus etc for the trip. It is slippery through out the way and very challenging to reach the top.

Meenmutty Waterfalls lies 12 kms east of Meppadi and the waterfalls cascades down in three steps and is very magnificient to look at and very exhilarating too. the rippling sound of the water falling down the hill makes you calm down anmd enthralled just at that sight. Just 2 more kilometers will take you to Kombaikani waterfalls . Both the waterfalls have formed from the upper reaches of the Neyyar river.
