How to create Simple, Easy but Messy hairstyles in few seconds

There are simple hairstyles which can be easily done  even if the hair is unwashed and tangly. You can be sure that it will not look  sloppy at all. Simple and messy hairstyles  are very easy to do  without it being sloppy looking.  If you are in a hurry and want to skip the shmpoo your hair badly needs, you can go in for this Loose Bun style.

If you have a long hair, it is very easy to try out a Loose Bun hairstyle. The Loose bun can be done without any proper brushing even.  For all you know, even unwashed tangly hair will work for this style.
Bend down with your hair in front and get hold of ll of your hair together and tie it up like a pony tail just below the top of your head. Secure the hair with a hair band.  Wrap the pony tail around the base of your hairband  till it forms a bun. Use hair pins to secure the bun to the base of the knot.
You can leave it at that or just a pull a few of front hair to give you the unkempt, messy look.
If you have curly hair, you can have an easy natural style  which can be achieved with just washed or dry hair.  After you wash your hair, dry it up with a towel, until you get a just washed and dried  look with a little moisture. Yo can simply use your fingers to comb / run through to perk up the curls adding volume to your hair.  Don't use comb at this time and your hair will get limp.
If yours is a dry curly hair, just run your fingers through or use a light mousse to perk up adding volume to your curls. Just bend down with your hair on to your front, comb lightly with a wide toothed comb  from the roots to the end. When you flip back your hair you will see the increased volume in your hair. You can leave it just like that to make it look unkempt and messy or just comb down the top to make it look neat.
You can wear a hair band / clip to fix your hair so that it looks bouncy on your back.

Curry leaves - Health tonic for Hair

Curry leaves has its own medical properties. It is a great herbal medicine for great looking hair and digestive problems of the stomach and the abdominal area.
Take a glass of  dilute buttermilk with pinched or minced curry leaves, jeera / cumin seeds powder, a pinch of asafoetida and salt to taste. I have seen this to be a medicine for Gastric headaches, even for migranes which have root in the gastric symptoms of the stomach. Vomiting accompanies these migranes. When you next go through the migranes try this buttermilk mixture. It will help as it had helped me.

For great looking hair :

Take 100 ml of Coconut oil and add a handful of curry leaves and a few pepper.
Heat oil till the curry leaves turn brown and the pepper start spluttering. Just keep stirring so that the leaves turn brown uniformly all over. Cool. Strain and pour into clean bottle. Use it regularly for massaging into your scalp and hair.
You will see new great looking hair with in three months. Use this and see for yourself. This may be the secret and long, black and great looking hair of the South Indians.

Coriander for shiny, healthy hair

Kitchen garden... that's where we find lots of herbs..
Take two or three handfuls of coriander leaves, cleaned and chopped. Heat about a liter or two of water till it comes to boil.
When it starts boiling, put in the coriander leaves and let it simmer on the stove. The leaves should become tender and the colour of the water greener. Add a tablespoonful vinegar to this concoction.
Use the water after shampooing as a rinse. This rinse works like a conditioner and gives you a natural shine and glow to your hair.

Beauty Care & Coconut Oil

Coconut Oil, Coconut Oil and Coconut Oil .... Yes, No one ever thinks of the humble Coconut Oil, which is the best remedy for all the skin and hair care problems. It has been like that for a long time, our anchestors did not have any of the beauty care products which we have now. They had oils, oil massages for the hair and the body and that was the only care they gave in those days.
Coconut oil in the beauty regimen:
1. For hair care, warm coconut oil witha few peppercorns thrown in, if you like. Massage that warm oil in to the scalp and hair till the ends liberally. If it is summer you can leave it overnight but in the winter wash it off after an hour. No problem, if you do not want to use home made Shikakai you can use any herbal shampoo you like. Oil will keep your head cool, regular massaging like this will prevent dandruff. You will not any conditioner after that. Your hair will start shining soon.
2. For dry and chapped lips apply coconut oil liberally in the night before going to bed. If you do not like to leave it overnight just clean it off with an old soft cloth.
3. Instead of winter care lotion adda drop of coconut oil into the last rinse. Your body will get the type of softness you wanted always. For the hands and cracked feet apply a mixture of coconut oil and petroleum jelly liberally. You can always be proud of your hands.
4. Add a spoonful coconut oil into the face pack and mix well. The oil will leave your skin soft and shining.
The anti microbial properties of coconut oil will help the skin look beautiful and healthy.
Always remember that cocnut oil has medicinal properties. It cools and soothes the head and provides stress relief. Dry skin problems can be solved with the help of coconut oil. Keratosis Pilaris which affects as a bumpy skin will be helped by coconut oil. But for this treatment regular use of coconut oil should be there.
Regular body bath with coconut oil will clear the skin of all the problems and make your skin shine and glow.
For best results avoid refined varieties of coconut oil, these are bleached, deodorised and refined. So you should always remember to use the unrefined coconut oil, since the refined varieties filters away most of the medicinal properties of coconut oil.

Soft and Manageable Hair

1. Do you at any time either winter or summer use hot water for your hair?

2. When you use shower do you ever bend forward and wash your hair or just stand straight with your hair on your back?

If you answer yes to the first question, then it is very bad for your hair. Use water that is just slightly warm not even luke warm. Even luke warm water will give you this dryness problem and the hair will look spiky and uncontrollable.

If you want to use luke warm water for your bath then apply a few drops of oil into the ends of hair and spread it all over just after you wash your hair. You'll be able to manage your hair better.

If you ever stand straight, with your hair at the back, you tend to pour hot water down on to your hair also. This will spoil the hair and sometimes you tend to lose lots of hair too. Always bend and put the hair in to the front and then give it a wash. Once you have cleaned off the shampoo, tie it up in a separate towel on to the top of your head. Then finish your body bath.

You can dry your hair after that with the towel starting from the scalp to the ends. Give it a try and tell me how it is. Leave it to dry in open air. Do not use the hair drier, since it'll make the hair more drier.

Drink lots of water and fruit juices to keep your hair and scalp hydrated and this will help lots in getting the problems right.

Method of using the hair oil

Some have the habit of washing the hair daily. I do. For those, slight application of a little hair oil with their fingertips on to their scalps will be enough.

For those who wash their hair only twice or thrice a week:

They can apply oil into the scalp the night before they have their hair wash. Massage your scalp nicely with the hair oil. You need not use oil liberally but a little ju7st enough for your scalp, so that it does not get dry and brittle. You also have to watch your hair ends so that it is well oiled. Tie your hair up and wash it the next day morning with a mild herbal shampoo.

For those who wash their once a week:

You have to have hot oil massage every week to see that your hair is oiled and is hydrated. Part your hair and with a cotton wool dipped in warmed oil, apply the whole of scalp and the hair till the ends. You have to use oil liberally. Then use your fingertips to massage your scalp nicely. Dip towel into hot water , squeeze it out of extra water and tie it up around your hair.
Change twice or thrice when the towel gets cold. Wash it after an hour atleast.

Dos and don'ts:

Please, please do not use drier to dry you hair.
Do not wet comb your hair.
Do not use bands on wet hair.
Let the hair open and dry out naturally. Or use a towel to wipe the extra water dripping.
Slightly rub the scalp to get the extra moisture out.
Do not use a comb for untangling the knots. If you have to, then use your fingers or a wide toothed comb.

Prematured Grey Hair

Yes the word "Grey Hair" depresses many and that too when it is prematured, there is no need to say anything about it.
Lack of care is the main point in getting grey hair.
If you take very good care of your hair, you are not likely to get any hair problems. I have gone through this problem myself and have been trying to tackle this for the past twenty five years. Now it is no more prematured but is salt & pepper time. But I have tried and once it shows it'll never vanish completely. So please take care of your hair nicely to avoid prematured greyness.

1. Apply oil liberally to your hair and scalp atleast once a week.
2. Massage it nicely with the cushions of your fingertips with circular motions and strokes without scratching your skin.
3. Take 2/3 towels, dip in hot water, squeeze out the extra water and tie around your head. Once it cools change towel. Repeat 3/4 times or till you feel the warmth all over the scalp.
4. Leave the hair tied up for half an hour more and then wash it off with a mild shampoo.
Take care of your hair this way and your hair will glow all by itself with health.

I'll give you the recipe of the hair oil to be used in case of greyness of Hair in the next post.

Hair Growth

To grow the hair, apply either unboiled cow's milk or coconut milk . Leave it for half an hour atleast and then have your shampoo.
If you can do this twice a week you can see the results after three months.
You have to give oil massage to the hair regularly.
Apply warm coconut oil to the scalp and the roots of hair. To do that part your hair little by little and dab warm oil into the partings.
Slowly massage with gentle circular motions through out the scalp. Do not scratch at it. you'll hurt your hair follicles.
After finishing the massage tie hot towels dipped in hot water and excess water squeezed out. When the towel gets cold change it. Likewise change towels three times. Tie up your hair in a bun and leave it for an hour or atleast half an hour. Then shampoo your hair.
You'll start seeing the results after three months.

Split Ends

Split ends are the result of negligence. When you neglect caring for your hair, it'll end up getting dry and brittle.
Lack of oil massaging and brushing will do this to your hair.
Split ends will not just stop with the ends of hair, it climbs up the shaft spoiling the hair follicle itself.
The only way to prevent this from happening is caring for the hair properly.
You have to do oil massaging, combing the hair after massage with the wide toothed comb, till the oil reaches the ends of hair.
Tie the hair up in a bun and one hour later shampoo your hair.
Do not comb wet hair. That's another reason for split hair.
The only treatment available for split ends is trimming . You cannot avoid trimming your hair at all. Just trim your hair once in three months till the splits vanish completely.

Shikakai Shampoo

For the health and beauty of your hair, you can use Shikakai Shampoo.
You can make this at home with the shikakai pods.
Soak a cupful pods in 6 cups of water for an hour. Then boil the mix till it turns pulpy.
Remove from fire and let cool. Mash it with your fingers till it gets frothy. Strain and remove the seeds and the fibre.
You can use the remaining liquid as a hair shampoo. If you do not like the smell add a few drops of your favourite essence to it.
Using this shampoo regularly will get you healthy, shiny and tangle free hair.

For better results, do oil massage an hour before shampooing.

Maintenance of hair

Some Do's and don't for hair

1. Use of hair drier is harmful to all types of hair. As far as possible dry your hair witha thin towel and let it dry naturally. Leave it open to dry.

2. Hair sprays are no good for the hair. As far as possible do not use them . It'll increase the dryness which your hair is facing already.

3. Avoid back combing the hair. It'll malke the hair brittle and make it prone to splitends and breakage.

4. Do not comb your hair when it is wet. Remove tangles with your fingers. once it is dry you can use a wide toothed comb for thids purpose.

5. Use luke warm water for washing the hair in winter. donot use hot water in anycaes. It'll spoil your hair.

6. When you shampoo, use lots of water to rinse off . Do not leave any residual shampoo for the lack of time. Your hair should be squeaky clean after you rinse the shampoo off.

7. Herbal Shampoo is always better than a chemical one. Select one which is less harmful and from a reputed herbal company.

8. Whenever you go out in the sun, cover your hair atleast with a scarf or an umbrella.

9. Do not change your shampoo frequently. Buy the one which suits your hair and use that always.

10. Make Shikakai shampoo for your personal use. The recipe is given in the first post of this blog.

11. Henna is a good conditioner for all types of hair.

12. Balanced diet and proper maintenance ensures healthy, beautiful hair. Take foods rich in Vitamins A, B and C and proteins, iron and calcium.

Green leafy vegetables, fruits and nuts should be the main ingredients for your meal.

Normal Hair - Treatment

Normal Hair also needs good care to maintain its natural boounce and thick wavy hair. one is lucky to get this type of hair since it is comparatively easier to maintain.
Massaging the hair twice a week with warm oil is necessary for any type of hair. Give the hair hot towel treatment twice a month and that should be enough.
Use a mild /herbal shampoo with conditioner for its upkeep. Dry your hair in a natural way.
Home Remedies:
Apply a mixture of curd and besan / gram flour. Apply on the scalp and wash it after sometime. This will maintain the natural shine of the hair.

Oily Hair - Treatment

For oily hair, you shpuld not brush your hair often, because this leads to the increased flow of natural oils from the roots making the hair more oily.
Preferably use a comb than a brush to comb the hair.
Proper cleaning is very important to clean the oil from the scalp. Use lime or protein based shampoo for this type of hair.
If you do not clea the excess oil , then dandruff will develop . Oil and the dust particles will join
together to form dandruff. If the hair is very oily the, use a baby shampoo for cleaning daily.
In a mug of water, mix in juice of half the lime and 2 tbsps of vinegar and use it as a final rinse for your hair.
Home Remedies:
Dissolve a small amount of fuller's earth / multani mitti in water and apply on the scalp. leave for an hour and shampoo.
Mix juice of half a lime in one egg. Apply on the scalp with fingertips. Leave for half an hour and then shampoo.
Henna is a good conditioner for this type of hair. Henna will add extra bounce and shine for your oily hair, if you do it regularly.

Dry hair - Treatment

Dry hair looks very dry and brittle and breaks easily with split ends.
This type requires combing many times to help the flow of the natural oils from the glands to the ends of hair to maintain the smoothness.
Take a little oil in your hands and spread that into the hair from top to bottom and then comb out the hair. The hair will not break and will also have a shine.
Massaging is a must for this kind of hair. Warm either coconut or olive oil. Massage into your scalp with your fingertips without hurting your skin with your nails.
Then give your hair a hot towel treatment. Dip a towel in hot water, squeeze out the excess water and tie the towel around your head. Repeat this process, atleast 5-6 times or till your hair feels nice and soft and the scalp tingles. Half an hour to one hour later you can have your bath.
If you can do this regularly atleast once a week your hair will not have the problem of dryness and will grow nicely without breaking.
Select a mild shampoo, like egg based shampoos. You can choose one with a conditioner.
Get your hair trimmed once in every 3 months to ward off split ends.
Do not perm or bleach unless needed very badly. Regular use of drier for drying the hair also will affect your hair health.
Home remedies for dry hair:
Take 2 tablespoons of curd and one egg yolk. Mix it well and apply on your scalp thoroughly. This pack will help soften your hair and will give a silky look.
While using henna for conditioing have oil massage and then apply henna. Or add a teaspoonful oil to the henna mix so that your hair will not get dry after you shampoo.
If your hair is very dry, mix milk and one egg and apply to your scalp. Wash it off with a mild shampoo. You can use this twice a week to get soft hair.
