Birds Paradise in Bharatpur

Keoladeo Ghana National park, otherwise simply known as Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary, is situated in the Bharatpur district of the state of Rajasthan. This name, Keoladeo was derived from an ancient Shiva temple, which is with in the boundary limits of the place, where this bird santuary is located.

Keoladeo is very famous as one of Asia’s finest birding areas, with over 380 resident and migrant species, and is a paradise for birds like the Common, Demoiselle and the rare Siberian Cranes with the other more common birds. The birds like Golden Jackal, Jungle Cat, Striped Hyaena, Sambar, Fishing Cat, Nilgai, Blackbuck and wild Boar are some of the mammals found in this bird santuary. There are lots of other birds migratory and others like several species of Cranes, Hawks, Pelicans, Geese, Shanks, Ducks, Eagles, Warblers, Stints, Wagtails, Buntings, Wheatears, Flycatchers, Larks, Pipits etc.

Bharatpur government Museum, Lohagarh Fort and Deeg Palace are some of the other tourist attractions of this Keoladeo National Park.
Maharaj Surajmal built lots of forts and palaces with his power and wealth across his kingdom and Lohagarh fort is one of them which was built in Bharatpur. This is one of the strongest fort which was ever built in the Indian History. Kishori Mahal, Mahal Khas and Kothi Khas. Moti Mahal and towers like Jawahar Burj and Fateh Burj were erected as memorials associated with his victories over the Mugal and the British Army and they are very interesting to look at.

To Reach Bharatpur

You can reach Bharatpur easily by air, road and rail. You can find accomadations also there to stay and explore the sanctuary and the near by areas.

By Air
The Delhi airport is about 5-6 hours from the Bharatpur bird sanctuary.
By Rail/ Train
The Bharatpur railway station is just 6 Kms from the bird sanctuary and is well connecyed with all the major cities of India like Delhi, Jaipur, Agra and Mumbai.
By Road
An excellent network of road services connects Bharatpur to all the major cities of Rajasthan and neighboring states like Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.
Bharatpur is well connected by road from Agra (55-kms), Delhi (176-kms) and Jaipur (176-kms).
