Facials - At Home

It is very easy to do facial at home. You have to follow some simple steps correctly.
1. Cleansing
2. Scrubbing
3. Toning and massaging
4. Steaming
5. Face pack
6. A light moisturiser

Cleansing and scrubbing:
You can do both these steps together. Tie up your hair first into a tight bun. Then , clean your face with one tablespoonful rice flour, mixed into a paste with curds and a pinch of turmeric powder. Apply the mix to your face , rub nicely into your skin, using circular motions. But do not use force , since your face skin is very delicate. Wipe it off with a piece of cotton wool, soaked in warm water. After wiping it off wash your face with cold water and then pat dry.

Toning:

Take some cream or nourishing lotion in your hands and apply it around the neck, chin and around the mouth area, cheeks and forehead.
You have to massage your neck area upwards from the base of the neck to your chin line. Use both your hands for that. Do it at least 10 times.
Then with all the fingers locked do that once again for 10 times. Then massage the chin area with the back of your hands. Then onto the cheeks in an upward circular motions. Do the same around the mouth also. Massage lips and around the mouth area with your finger cushion pads.
Next gently massage the area around the dark eyes tapping with your finger slightly.Massage your forehead next with small strokes upwards and outwards in circular motions. Then lastly do some tapping on to your cheeks and mouth area and finish it off.

Steaming;
Take a bowl of hot boiling water. Cover your head with a towel so that the hot air does not escape. Steam your face for 5 minutes at least.
If you do not like steaming like this, dip towel into the hot water, squeeze it out and then put it on your face . Change towels when it gets cool. Do at least three times. Pat dry.

Face Pack:
Now apply a face pack which suits your skin. Leave it for 15 minutes. When it is dry, wipe it off with a wet sponge. Wash your face with cold water and then apply a moisturizer.

Face packs for different types of skin will come in the next post.
